He sets the direction and velocity of marketing for AccuWeather, helping to expand the reach and direct the growth of the global leader in weather information and digital media.

At AccuWeather, Dokes has guided the reinvention of the AccuWeather brand and the launches of innovative weather products including AccuWeather’s unique MinuteCast™ Minute by Minute™ forecast and the 45-Day Forecast. Dokes has strengthened global alliances with digital partners including Motorola, Android, HTC, BlackBerry, and Apple.
Working with cable network giant MTV Networks at Viacom, Dokes increased the visibility of VH1 during the height of their growth by leading national programs with cable operators and satellite companies. Dokes’ previous experience also includes strategic marketing and sales duties at Marvel where he effectively positioned the brand to increase sales of custom interactive ad placements, growing relationships with clients such as Siemens, Cirque Du Soleil, Benefit Cosmetics, Activision, Harley Davidson, Audi, Farmers Ins, NBA, Wyndham Hotels, Visa, and PricewaterhouseCoopers, in addition Dokes was a central figure in the re-launch of Marvel’s digital initiatives, spearheading a key patent initiative for facilitating the digital viewing of illustrated content.
Dokes is currently an Advisory Board Member for Diversity Affluence, a boutique consultancy specializing in Multicultural Marketing Communications, Strategic Planning, Management Consulting, Business Development, and Research, and Analysis. He worked for a short stint as an actor on stage and also appeared in national television programs including All My Children, One Life to Live, and Law and Order. John can still be seen on stage as a vocalist in a jazz big band.
