Geoffrey Colon is Vice President of Social@Ogilvy in New York City. In his role, Geoffrey creates and executes the social strategies for a variety of business divisions within IBM including Systems and Technology, Midmarket, Software Group and Smarter Planet. These executions take place on a variety of platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Tumblr, SlideShare and Google+. He is also a subject matter expert on social business and “work media” and leads thought leadership on social trends for the New York office. Prior to his position at Social@Ogilvy, Colon was a Supervisor of Digital Communities at 360i. While there he headed the community management department running content strategy for Coca-Cola, Lysol and Kraft. He also was a Senior Account Strategist at digital marketing agency Bond Strategy and Influence. While at the agency from 2007 to 2010 Geoffrey developed strategy, established and operated the community management practice for a number of clients as the social agency of record including American Express Open, The Food Network, Netflix, USA Network, A&E, History, HGTV and Invisalign. Geoffrey possesses more than 18 years of marketing and promotional experience, with over 8 in digital. Prior to joining Bond Strategy and Influence, Colon served as manager of new media marketing for B2B digital content distributor The Orchard. He served as team leader for the emerging media department focusing on online promotions for a variety of emerging technology clients. He helped broker content deals with emerging social networks including MySpace, Snocap, iMeem, TagWorld and Podsafe Music Network. Prior to his work at The Orchard, Colon operated his own consulting agency Frenzy Multi-Marketing conducting influencer and lifestyle marketing company whose clients included Red Bull Energy Drink, Glaceau Smartwater, Diadora Sneakers and RCA Records. Mr. Colon is a 1994 graduate of Lehigh University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Communications and a minor in Political Science. He is a regular contributor to the World Future Society publication The Futurist, is an educator on social media for Mediabistro and sits on the advisory board of California-based 3D mobile technology startup Idea Giants.
